Fighting Superbugs: Award for Synthetic Teixobactins Platform

We are delighted to share the news that Dr. Ishwar Singh, a Rosetrees-funded researcher at the University of Liverpool, has won the Health Category prize in the 2025 Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Emerging Technologies Competition for his work on the Synthetic Teixobactins platform.

This award recognises high-potential technologies that offer solutions to global challenges, and Dr. Singh’s platform stood out as a pioneering approach in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR)—a priority area in global health.

The Synthetic Teixobactins platform was selected as one of just four global winners, and was recognised for its transformative potential as a leading health innovation. The award includes a substantial share of the £100,000 prize fund, reflecting the RSC’s confidence in the translational strength and future impact of this research.

This award highlights the strength and promise of Dr. Singh’s work in addressing antimicrobial resistance through novel approaches to antibiotic development. We are pleased that Rosetrees has been able to support this important research as it moves from concept toward real-world application.
