We are devastated to hear of Bruce Willis’ Frontotemporal Dementia diagnosis and send our thoughts and best wishes to him and his family during this challenging time.

We thank him and his family for being so open and raising awareness of this rare dementia and it has been incredible to see all the love and support Bruce has received worldwide.

Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) is a group of dementias which can be subdivided into two types depending on the area of the brain that is affected; Behavioural variant FTD (bvFTD) which mainly affects personality and behavior and primary progressive aphasia (PPA) affecting language and speech.

FTD is 1 of the 7 rare dementias supported by Rare Dementia Support – a service funded by The National Brain Appeal. They offer learning resources, group support and more to ensure that those living with this condition and their carers are connected to others like them and receive the guidance and support needed at all stages.

Rare Dementia Support is a support service that is close to our hearts and we are so delighted to be supporting The National Brain Appeal and Rare Dementia Support in creating the world’s first Rare Dementia Support Centre – bringing together those living with a rare dementia with experienced healthcare professionals, as well as providing a space for pioneering research, artistic and cultural activities.
